Frequently asked questions
Why does my Hong Kong company need a significant controllers register?
It’s a statutory anti-money-laundering requirement introduced in 2018 — every Hong Kong company must identify and record its beneficial owners and keep that register available for inspection.
Can I act as my own company secretary?
Only if you are a Hong Kong-resident individual, or you use a Hong Kong-registered corporate secretary. Most non-resident owners appoint a licensed provider — the role we perform.
What happens if I miss the Annual Return deadline?
Late filing penalties apply with the Companies Registry and escalate the longer a filing is outstanding. We manage the filing calendar so this doesn’t happen.
